Happy Rocks!

We can all agree these are stressful times and the hardest part might be the lack of knowing what happens next or when....but as we all hunker down and try to stop the spread of COVID-19 there is also a lot of good and kindness happening as well.  Sending my thanks to the many, many doctors, nurses, EMTs, medical professionals and caregivers all over the world, and also to the grocery store workers and the many different types of delivery people who are literally risking their lives for the rest of us. Along with tons of other people who are giving in this time of need.

In one small act of kindness, someone has painted happy rocks and spread them throughout my neighborhood.  I walk my dog each day as I'm working from home and it's amazing how much a little painted rock can lift one's spirits. We look for the rocks on our walks and stop to appreciate the picture or message on each one.

So on behalf of some stranger's act of kindness, please enjoy these happy rocks! We …

TOP HOUSING NEWS IN THURSTON COUNTY REAL ESTATE - 2019 RECAP High demand and lower levels of sellers brought 2019 to the strongest seller’s market ever recorded. We are starting 2020 at just a 0.6 month supply of homes for sale (a balanced market sees between a four to six month supply.) Home prices rose higher than the historical average but surprisingly did not rise as much as might be expected given the supply-demand imbalance. That is good news for the market, as conditions here remain affordable, which keeps buyers interested and capable. It’s no coincidence that homeowners in our area are seeing record levels of equity, particularly those who purchase between 2010 and 2015. Those folks who recently sold are averaging well over $120,000 in price gains since they purchased. Those are sizable given the average sales prices was $367,000. If you're considering buying or selling - give me a call! Let me put my knowledge and 20+ years of real estate experience to work for you!

Fall is a great time to hike in Thurston County

Fall is the perfect time to explore some of the great hiking trails we have around Thurston County and this Fall the weather has been especially nice!  My daughter and I recently hiked the trail at McLane Creek, which is a beautiful walk through nature, replete with wildlife.  The trail is flat and easily navigated and provides different route options so you can enjoy a longer walk of about an hour or a shorter walk of 30 minutes-ish.

Located in the Delphi Valley, the McLane Creek Trail takes you around a big pond, which is home to beavers, ducks, birds, newts and all sorts of other wildlife. There are parts of the trail that feels like an old growth forest (see below) and other sections that look across the pond to the vista of the nearby hills of the Capitol State Forest.

For directions and more info, click here to go the Washington Parks map and trail info. We have so much natural beauty here in the South Sound - get out and explore!
